Orlando RV Mobile Repairs - Bad Experience

Orlando RV Mobile Repairs

My bad experience with Orlando Mobile RV Repairs Inc.

And why I will never use Orlando RV Mobile Repairs again!

Due to Orlando RV Mobile Repairs Inc. negligence, we were stranded on July 31st

In Our Opinion

  • DO NOT TRUST THEM.
  • DO NOT HIRE THEM.
  • THEY TOOK OUR MONEY AND LEFT US STRANDED.

DO NOT call Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc (also “operating” under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando)

Instead call this guy: Tom Horn, and his phone number is 352-669-2285 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              352-669-2285      end_of_the_skype_highlighting He won’t “rip you off”

RV Problem: The crank on our Coleman Fleetwood was not working, as we could not lower the Pop-Up roof and canvas. Luckily, this happened at our house. Unfortunately, we found these guys online, called them, they came out and said they would fix it. Read “The Rest of the Story” below.

Contracted Agreement: The duty of the Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc. (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) repairman was to diagnose the problem* and repair the problem. Nope, they didn’t fix it. Said they did. But the photos show they did not fix it.

We went camping about an hour and a half south of Orlando. Camped for two days. When we broke camp on July 31st and tried to lower the pop up top, it wouldn’t come down. We called them as they said they “guaranteed” their labor for 6 months and the part for two months, and this was two weeks after they “fixed it.”

Breach of Duty: The Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) repairman negligently inserted the drift pin only halfway into the collar *(see photos at bottom of page) .

On July 31, 2010, while stranded at the campsite, we called Orlando RV Mobile Repairs Inc. The owner yelled at me and then yelled again at my husband, stating that he was not going to be responsible for everything that goes wrong with the RV Pop-Up. We asked him to stop yelling at us and that this was directly a result of the work his repairman had performed on the RV. He refused to send a repairman that day and would charge us for the drive to Sebastian Inlet, FL from Orlando on Monday. This was Saturday and our reservation was up.

Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc. (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) refused to assist us even though they were contracted and paid to repair the problem.

The Rest of the Story

The purpose of us sharing our horrible experience with Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc. (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) is to save you the frustration of wasting your money and wasting your time when they do not show up (three times) for scheduled appointments to repair the broken crank.

The negligence of the Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc. (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) repairman and manager created a situation that left us stranded on July 31st in the Florida heat. The repairman “installed” the part, but only put the drift pin halfway into the collar, as the photos demonstrate. The failure of correctly installing the part caused the crank to start stripping (see steel particles on photos) .

On July 31st, with the assistance of the park ranger, my husband and I were able to struggle to get the Coleman roof to lower. It didn’t matter to RV Rentals of Orlando, Inc (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) that my husband was in severe pain as his shingles were causing indescribable agony due to the strain of sweating and manually lowering the RV roof.

Here are the rest of the negligent and unprofessional choices Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) executed over the course of six weeks:

When we called them the very first time, RV Rentals of Orlando, Inc stated it would be $85 to diagnose the problem and estimated a total of $175 for the entire repair (but they would not know until they saw it). When the RV Rentals of Orlando, Inc (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) repairman arrived with his wife, he crawled under the RV and had completed his diagnosis in 20 minutes. He said the new charge for the diagnosis was $175 ($85 to drive out and $90 to crawl under the RV on the driveway to diagnose the crank problem). I stated the quoted service price of $85 that was given to me over the phone. He said that was just to drive out. I bartered the 20 minutes he was here to a $40 agreed price and wrote a check for $125, which was more than what the company had quoted me. He wanted me to give him a credit card. I said I would be writing a check for the record. The only receipt he provided was a blank receipt paper without a company logo.

The next step was for their office to order the part from Coleman. This went on for weeks. The part finally arrived at their office. An appointment was scheduled, but the mechanic didn’t show up.

Another appointment was made for that Thursday, but the mechanic’s manager left a message on my phone and said he couldn’t make it. When I called back to speak to the manager, I requested another mechanic be sent out to keep the appointment time. The manager refused to send another mechanic. It was evident that customer service and a customer's schedule are of no value to this company.

When the original mechanic called to reschedule a third appointment, he thanked me for being so patient and understanding. I was being nice. They were being unprofessional by making the customer wait, not knowing if they would show up and then not show up. When he arrived, Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc. (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) had ordered the wrong part. My husband had to do the research online for the mechanic to identify the correct part.

All this negligence and breech of duty on the part of RV Rentals of Orlando, Inc (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) and the Coleman RV was still in the UP position in my driveway.

The fourth appointment was made but the mechanic didn’t show up. He told me on the phone that he “knew somebody had called to cancel appointment and “thought it was you guys”. Fact: It wasn’t us. He was irresponsible. He was cooking out with his family and couldn’t come for the appointment. Impressive customer service, right? We would have just fired them but they already had our $125.00 for 20 minutes of work.

The final check for $217.21 ($342.17 total) was cashed on July 20, 2010 by Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc. (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) for “repairing” the Coleman RV. We took it out for its inaugural trip to Sebastian Inlet’s Long Point County Campground. It is great place to camp, but a hot place to be stranded by the bad business practices and negligent work of Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc. repairman.

Now you know the rest of the story.

Because this company refused to honor their guarantee, we called a real mechanic. He fixed it. I cranked it up. I cranked it down. And it worked better than it ever had. I suggest you do not call Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc (also “operating” under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando)

In our experience with them, we were under the impression they had questionable business practices from the moment they changed their service fee quote. DO NOT call Orlando RV Mobile Repairs, Inc (also operating under the name of RV Rentals of Orlando) if you need it done correctly, problem free, or would not like to triple your frustration.

The guy that fixed it? His name is Tom Horn, and his phone number is 352-669-2285

He showed up, looked at the bad repair and said “hey, this is common sense. The screw bolt will strip when not installed right” I asked him about the part they ordered and installed. He said “Well, I can’t tell you whether it was bad or not, but I can tell you that it would have no affect on whether or not your Pop Up sticks in the open position.” So I asked him how to fix it. He said “the collar is ruined, and maybe you can find one somewhere. But what I can do instead is just spot wire weld it and it won’t strip or break.” So he did.

Cost? Only $75, and done right away. I gave him a hundred because I was so happy to have this nightmare behind us.

  1. I had a problem with them as well, I just didn't know how to put up a website advising people to steer clear of these people. I'm glad you did
